New VSD+ variable speed drive technology evenly reduces energy consumption by up to 50%

With the new GA 75-110 VSD+, Atlas Copco meets and exceeds customer power specifications and guidelines. Since traditional fixed speed compressors cannot get used to the frequent fluctuations in compressed air demand, Atlas Copco's Variable Speed Drive (VSD) is able to closely match the air demand by automatically adjusting the motor speed. Thus, VSD+ can evenly save 50% energy.

The subversive innovation of VSD+ lies in the integrated design of the drive train, motor and compressor head. The built-in permanent magnet (iPM) motor is uniquely designed with special attention paid to cooling requirements and power. There are no couplings or gears between the motor and the screw head, so it is direct drive, very quiet and very energy efficient. The transmission system of VSD+ is a closed circuit, and both the motor and the screw rotor are oil-cooled, which is another way to save energy. In addition to the drive train, the GA 75-110 VSD+ is equipped with many high-quality components, including innovative Neos frequency converters and a fully integrated dryer.
